A Historic Rebirth: Unveiling a New Home Development on the Former Odean Cinema Site in Portsmouth

In a remarkable collaboration with Vivid, we are thrilled to be working on a ground breaking new home development comprising 18 properties, including both houses and apartments.

A key brownfield regeneration project in Portsmouth, we are breathing new life into the site that was once home to the iconic Odean Cinema.

Join us on a journey as we explore the rich history of this location and the exciting prospects it holds for the future.

The Odean Cinema Legacy:

The story begins in 1936 when the Odean Cinema first opened its doors, becoming the largest and most opulent Andrew Mather-designed Odean of that year. Boasting a grand total of 1824 seats, the cinema stood as a symbol of entertainment and community gathering. Its impressive tower frontage, adorned in cream with vertical green bands and a red roof of Spanish tiles, made it a distinctive landmark in Portsmouth.

Over the years, the Odean Cinema played a pivotal role in the cultural fabric of the city, hosting countless film premieres, events, and shared moments of joy. However, as times changed, the cinema faced challenges, and in 2008, it closed its doors. Unfortunately, the building fell into disrepair and, ultimately, was demolished in 2023 as a part of the new redevelopment.

 A Vision for Regeneration:

Fast forward to today, and the once-iconic Odean Cinema site is undergoing a remarkable transformation. In partnership with Vivid, we are breathing new life into this brownfield space, envisioning a vibrant community that pays homage to the area’s rich history while embracing modern living.

  The New Home Development:

Our development comprises 18 thoughtfully designed properties, offering a mix of houses and apartments to cater to various lifestyles. Each home has been meticulously planned to maximize space, comfort, and energy efficiency, ensuring a sustainable and contemporary living experience for residents.
