New Homes on Historic Ground: Bursledon Brickworks Development
We are proud to announce the completion of 12 new homes built for rent and shared ownership in partnership with VIVID, one of Hampshire’s leading housing associations. This thoughtfully designed development sits within the grounds of the Bursledon Brickworks Museum, a site of exceptional local heritage and the last surviving steam driven brickworks in the country.
A Setting Steeped in History
Bursledon Brickworks dates back to the late 19th century, when bricks from this very site helped shape homes and landmarks across the South Coast. Today, the museum preserves this industrial legacy, with original machinery and kilns offering a fascinating glimpse into Victorian craftsmanship. Building new homes here meant working sensitively with this heritage, ensuring that our design and materials complement the historic character while creating contemporary, energy-efficient living spaces.
Creating Homes and Strengthening Community
In partnership with VIVID, these 12 houses provide much-needed affordable housing for local people. With a mix of rented and shared ownership properties, the development offers secure, high-quality homes to suit a variety of needs and life stages within a setting rich in culture and history.

Together we have created a place where residents can enjoy the charm of a historic location, excellent transport links, and access to the welcoming atmosphere of Bursledon village and the wider Southampton area.
A Successful Collaboration
This project stands as a testament to collaboration and craftsmanship. Under the leadership of Senior Site Manager Dave Richards, with the support of Paddy and the wider team, construction was delivered to the highest professional standards, ensuring the homes are as enduring as the history that surrounds them.
We are delighted to see these houses now ready to welcome their first residents.
This development at Bursledon Brickworks is more than bricks and mortar, it’s about honouring heritage while meeting the housing needs of today and tomorrow.
This is a scheme some seven years in the making, and we are delighted to be involved in this project with the Bursledon Brick Museum Trust and The Hampshire Building Preservation Trust.
