A Tour of Multi-Turn’s Factory: Imperial Homes Gets an Inside Look at Staircase Manufacturing Excellence

At Imperial Homes, we pride ourselves on creating homes that are not only beautiful but built with quality and precision. So, when we had the opportunity to tour the factory of Multi-Turn, a leading staircase manufacturer, we knew it would be an invaluable experience. A family-owned business with a rich history, Multi-Turn has been crafting staircases since 1989, originally starting as wood turners before expanding into the high-quality staircase production that they are now renowned for.

A Family Business with a Legacy

Located in Winchester, they have grown substantially over the years. The company is now producing around 400 staircases each month, with each project being a testament to their commitment to quality and craftsmanship. As part of our partnership with them for the Oxlease House development, we were fortunate enough to witness first hand the careful precision and attention to detail that goes into every staircase they produce.

Cutting-Edge Technology for Precision Manufacturing

One of the most striking aspects of the tour was the technology that Multi-Turn has integrated into its production process. From powerful Salvador saws to high-tech CNC (computer numerical control) machines, the factory is a showcase of modern engineering and innovation. It takes around 6 hours and 7 dedicated staff members to produce one staircase, and it’s clear that every minute and every hand involved is focused on achieving the highest standards.

Extra Alternative

Sustainability at the Core: Eco-Friendly Practices

In addition to their technological prowess, Multi-Turn is also deeply committed to sustainability. Their new factory, which opened in 2023, incorporates eco-friendly practices that help reduce their environmental footprint. A key feature of their sustainability efforts is the wood chipper used to recycle offcuts from the manufacturing process. These offcuts are then repurposed to heat the factory, making the entire operation more energy-efficient and environmentally responsible.

It’s reassuring to see a company in the construction and manufacturing industry taking such proactive steps toward sustainability. At Imperial Homes, we share this commitment to eco-conscious building, and it’s one of the many reasons why Multi-Turn is a trusted partner for our developments.
