March 3rd 2025 is the start of Women in Construction week, with International Women’s Day following on March 8th, we are celebrate the inspiring women shaping the future of the construction industry. As a traditionally male-dominated field, construction has seen a steady rise in the number of women joining and excelling in various roles. At Imperial Homes, we’re proud to highlight the invaluable contributions of our talented female staff members and share their experiences.
Nina – Assistant Site Manager
Nina joined us in 2024, bringing with her a deep passion for carpentry, a craft that runs through her family for generations. Initially drawn to the tools, she soon found her calling in project management. As an Assistant Site Manager, Nina thrives in the dynamic challenges of coordinating teams and solving complex problems. “Being a woman in construction has been empowering,” she says. “It’s not about physical strength; it’s about skill, precision, and dedication.” Nina hopes her presence will inspire other women to join the industry, showing them they have as much to contribute and achieve in construction.
Kate – Trainee Site Manager
Kate joined the industry for a hands-on role, drawn by a love for flipping houses and project management. With strengths in organisation and management, she’s quickly found her place as a Trainee Site Manager. “I love learning the schedules and how to resolve issues on-site independently,” Kate shares. “Being a woman here gives me a fresh perspective. I think differently, which adds to the diversity of thought on-site, and the team has been incredibly welcoming and supportive.”
Marina – Quantity Surveyor
After transitioning from finance, Marina discovered her passion for construction, blending her love for numbers with a keen interest in the built environment. As a Quantity Surveyor, Marina enjoys the diversity of her role, from managing costs to site measurements and negotiations. “I think it’s empowering to break misconceptions in a male-dominated industry,” she says. “The myths about women not fitting into this industry are just that—myths. I’ve always felt comfortable, and the men on-site have been supportive.” Marina’s role plays a crucial part in shaping how buildings are planned and brought to life.
Weronika – Technical Coordinator
Weronika’s journey into construction began with a degree in construction and a bachelor’s in architecture. As a Technical Coordinator, she is instrumental in the behind-the-scenes work that ensures smooth project operations. “Every day brings new challenges that make the role dynamic and rewarding,” she says. For Weronika, being a woman in a male-dominated space brings unique advantages, offering fresh ideas and fostering inclusivity. “My presence has helped shift some older attitudes,” she reflects. “Diversity is essential in a modern industry, and I’m proud to play a part in that shift.”
The Future of Construction
These stories are just a glimpse into the growing role of women in construction. As an industry, we must continue to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create inclusive environments that welcome diverse perspectives. At Imperial Homes, we are committed to encouraging more women to explore careers in construction and supporting them as they break new ground in an exciting and rewarding industry.
Let’s not only celebrate the achievements of women in construction but also inspire the next generation to follow in their footsteps. Together, we can build a more inclusive and innovative future for the industry.
